Waah more studio cooking!
We had a lot of fun making today’s lunch. There was some debate over what the recipe is actually called— but it was so easy to make that we ended with Spinach Tomato Feta Pasta.
The studio actually has an odd menagerie of cooking appliances that we want to try out. The word pancakes has been thrown around once or twice..
Q:I just wanted to say your art is amazing and I'm a huge fan of your 1001 comic! It inspires me so much as an art student and aspiring artist! I actually also had a question; I'm from Egypt so meeting you is out of the question, is there anyway to order the physical copies of your comic? I read it online and I want to have it printed in my hands!
Thank you so much for the kind words! I’m hoping I’ll have another issue done between January and February. :D As for picking up a print copy, I haven’t made them available through any formal service yet, but if you email me your mailing address, I can definitely give you a shipping quote of how much it would be to send— even to Egypt. :)
Q:Hey, I don't I've you remember me. I hung out[bugged you] by your table a bit. Just droppin' by to day I'm a fan of your artwork. Also, did you and husband get into Tomb Raider yet? Haha
I definitely remember— thanks again for coming by! Actually, I’ve been scouring the net for a well priced copy, but now I think I want to hold out and get Black Flag first. :D
Q:Hi Sanya, I'm Amanda from NYCC this past weekend. I came buy your table a few times to see if you could do a commission, but you are full because you are too good. It was certainly a pleasure meeting you!!
Hi Amanda— I’m so sorry I couldn’t fit you in, the show was pretty crazy! You’re always welcome to commission me via email, or otherwise come see me (hopefully) next year and I’ll save you a spot. ;)
Q:i just found out about your comic and i love it!!!! you're an awesome artist i'm so awed and inspired by your work man
Thank you! :D
Q:Hi i got the first two issues of 1001 on saturday from your booth at NYCC and just finished reading it. I just wanted to say that I love your work so much! Especially the characters and the artwork. Your take on 1001 Nights is awesome and Dunya is everything I aspired to be when I decided to study chemistry and engineering. I honestly look forward to reading 1001 and following more of your stuff. Thanks so much!
Thank you! Working on Dunya’s stuff is really fun because I get to learn a lot about the history of alchemy and, ultimately, chemistry. Although fact checking is always odd since is requires me to ask friends and colleagues if they know how to make kerosene off hand. XD
Q:I saw you at NYCC yesterday and I have to say, you are and extremely nice person in addition to being an extremely good artist! I read my signed copy of 1001 on the way home and loved it. Can't wait for the next issues!
Thanks so much for the kind words— it was a super fun show that I’m hoping to come back to! In the mean time, I’m working away at issue 3. XD
We had a studio crock pot lunch today! Comic Embassy is right in the middle of Kensington Market and Chinatown, so it seems only natural to take advantage of the cheap grocery shops in the area!
Today we made Cheesy Corn and Peppers! It only takes two hours to cook, and like five minutes to prep. And reaally tasty!
Next cooking mission: Tomato Basil Parm Pasta
This deliciousness was entirely orchestrated by the amazing Meghan Carter!
